So much had to stop that we wanted to share...
Like so many, the Purbeck Youth & Community Foundation has been impacted by the Corona Virus, and we have had to stop running our open youth clubs and any group gatherings, as well as some of our planned fundraising events, which we had hoped to be sharing with you.
We also had several residentials planned including our young carer’s surfing break, and a sculpture session in the pipeline.
Before this, we had some really good club sessions including a DJ, a musician making a CD of young people singing, as well as ‘boxercise’, cooking, art, sumo wrestling, and a Fair Trade evening. Our Curry Fundraising Evening was fun and supported by Purbeck Ice Cream and the Salt Pig. Our Dorset Mind counselling sessions had also been busy.
Our collecting box in One Shop has been successful and Chapman Lily Planning sponsored t-shirts for our young volunteers who help run sessions. The Wareham Town Council gave us a grant of £1,000. Will does charity a cheque for £4,000. This local support for young people means so much.
But we're still here to help how we can...
We continue with our one to one support, office work, providing online support and writing bids, and we look forward to returning to usual club sessions in due course.
We have tried to support many young people through tough times and it was so nice to hear recently one young person saying that our “… youth club has changed my life and I want to do something in return. Thank you for all you do.”
Normally the Foundation is based at Wareham Youth & Community Centre, Worgret Road, Wareham. However, if you would like to reach us now either telephone: 01929 552934, email: firstname.lastname@example.org, or follow us on Facebook. Our website is www.pycf.org.uk.
