Maddie’s Miracle – a Wareham-based charity

Supporting families with Breastfeeding counsellors during the Pandemic

Throughout 2020, Maddie’s Miracle was supporting families during the pandemic with online services provided by qualified Breastfeeding Counsellors. Our services include specialist physical health and mental health support to women in need. Some mothers have even called our support “life saving”.

But now, we are working on achieving our dream of having face-to-face support. We are raising funds to convert a mini bus into a bespoke breastfeeding support vehicle.

It is this kind of specialised breastfeeding support that parents in the UK do not have – and desperately need.

UK amongst the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world...

Many people don’t realise that the UK has amongst the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world, with most mums stating that they stopped breastfeeding despite wanting to breastfeed due to lack of support or discrimination. Most people don’t realise that specialist breastfeeding support is not provided on the NHS, which is why charities like Maddie’s Miracle are so important.

Most people don’t realise that breastmilk contains antibodies, providing vital protection to babies which is crucial in a pandemic.

Breastfeeding support vehicle - our £20,000 fundraiser

We have an exciting project of renovating a vehicle into being a one-of-a-kind mobile Breastfeeding Support Space, that will travel around the UK based on professional referrals from NHS or specialist breastfeeding counsellors.

It will be supporting those most in need – it is a service for all mothers and parents. And it will make a huge impact in the lives of families around the UK.

But we need your help to make it happen!

Please make a donation of any amount, even just a pound, this will go towards creating this dream – and providing support for those in need.

Thank you for your support.
