Councillor Lucia Kirk is Wareham's Mayor for the 2020 / 2021 municipal year
During the virtually held Annual Town Council meeting on Tuesday 7th of July, Councillor Lucia Kirk was elected to the office of Mayor for the 2020 / 2021 municipal year. Councillor Kirk will be accompanied at civic functions by her escort Councillor, Doreen Cleaton.
On appointment Councillor Kirk said, “I have lived in Wareham for the past 50 years and I have greatly enjoyed being part of the local community. Wareham is a wonderful town and I am extremely honoured to be chosen as Mayor for this year.
In the past, I worked for many years in Alderney hospital as a care worker. I looked after many individuals with dementia. I also worked locally in Purbeck Lodge, where I supported adults with learning disabilities. I have done lots of voluntary work for various charities over the years and enjoyed my time as an advocate for various individuals with learning disabilities, which was very rewarding.
'My chosen charity is the Wareham Youth Club'
I have a real passion for the Wareham Youth Club (the Purbeck Youth & Community Foundation), which is my chosen charity for this coming year.
I will serve the town of Wareham to the best of my ability and I’m so looking forward to fulfilling my role.“
