Holme is a family business run by Simon and Liz Goldsack and is more than just a Garden Centre – enjoy a day out at Holme For Gardens, a great British garden, starts with a great Garden Centre, the difference is our experience.
The Holme ethos can be summed up as: “Holme is a place where people who like gardens and being outdoors choose to spend their day off, to relax and to be inspired”
Holme is all about the place, the beautiful surroundings, the relaxing ambience, the gorgeous plants, the gardens, the birdsong and most of all about people enjoying themselves. We truly hope you like Holme as much as we do.

Quick questions

Q The Farm Shop

We stock a wide range of produce, much of it sourced from Dorset & the South West. We aim to support local producers and farmers where possible.

Q Garden Centre

The range is superb with very wide selections of trees, shrubs, climbers, cottage garden perennials, roses, grasses and bedding plants. We grow what we can but we also deal with many specialist nurseries from Dorset and the south west. However, if we can’t fill the range locally we have suppliers up country, in Holland, Germany and Italy.

All our garden centre staff are keen gardeners and know how to look after and nurture plants which means we have very healthy plants and can provide customers with top quality advice. Combine this expertise with our knowledge of the horticultural industry and the result is an amazing selection of plants at good value for money.

Q Landscaped Gardens

If you are new to gardening or even if you don’t consider yourself a gardener you will still enjoy the setting, the ambience, the scents, the colours and the wildlife to be found in the gardens at Holme. If you are a more accomplished gardener you will enjoy a walk round for all the above reasons and you may well see some plants that you are not familiar with. Either way no trip to Holme is complete without exploring what the gardens have to offer.

The basic layout is strongly influenced by gardens such as Hidcote Manor and The Laskett in that the garden is made up of distinct ‘rooms’ separated by hedges and areas of taller planting but linked by walks and the visitor is lead on by vistas and focal points and an urge to discover what is round the corner. The garden is still in its infancy and has a long way to go before it can be billed alongside the two aforementioned gardens but regular visitors love seeing the garden develop with more additions and expansions occurring each year.

Q The Orchard Cafe

The Orchard is a light and airy destination with wonderful views across the Purbeck Hills. The Orchard serves breakfast, light refreshments, lunches and cream teas. There is plenty of indoor seating but if the weather is good sit outside on one of the 4 terraces and soak up the ambience of the beautiful gardens, ponds and waterfall.

Q Holme Amphitheatre

Don't forget to bring a rug, chair or even a picnic to enjoy, toilets available. For Outdoor Events 2021 see our website.

Q Wedding venue

Our events lawn is gaining popularity as a very special venue. The lawn is set amongst beautiful borders and trees and is a very flexible space for a wedding reception and we have had many different arrangements, marquees and tepees in which to celebrate. Take a look at some of our photos below.
